Buddy’s Natural Chicken is a family owned, United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) inspected, poultry processor founded by Buddy Lindeman in 1987. The processing plant, hatchery, feed mill, and farms are located in Gonzales County, Texas. Buddy was a poultry science major from Texas A&M University and had been in the poultry industry for many years. He discovered consumers who desired poultry products raised without antibiotics or animal by-products and was intrigued with the idea of raising chickens in this manner. While there were many other poultry producers, the majority used these substances to raise their chickens. Buddy developed a grain based diet consisting primarily of soybean meal, grain sorghum, plant oils, and naturally occurring vitamins and minerals. This diet results in a chicken naturally lower in fat and superior flavor.
