How to Keep Monsanto Out of Your Garden this Spring

Did you know that Monsanto now owns approximately 40% of the home garden vegetable seed market — making them the largest seed company in the world. Scary, right? If only the US could follow the UK’s lead in hitting Monsanto with heavy opposition until they give up. Earlier this week they revealed the UK Government’s own research had found that GM farming would pollute the countryside for generations.

It pays to know where your seeds come from so you don’t accidentally pollute your garden with GMO’s. Check out this article for a list of safe seed companies and tips on sticking with heirlooms.

Remember, you can also get your seeds from local farmers! Next time you get a chance to go to the market, ask your farmer if they have seeds. Our sustainable farmer heroes are as passionate as we are about keeping GMO’s out of our soil!
