
Bok Choy to the World! With all the festivities around the holidays, between the Trail of Lights, the Armadillo Bazaar, and holiday shopping, every one is very busy! You can tell because the highways are never cleared and the stores and shops never empty. I’ll try not to bog you down with any more events in the next week or so because I am sure your schedule is already full! This isn’t your typical ‘Farmer’s Market’… At our market’s will you find locally grown fresh fruits and vegetables, farm raised beef, chicken, eggs, pasta, sauces, baked goods and more. In addition, you’ll find original art by some of Austin’s most talented artists in addition to some amazing handcrafted items including jewelry, pottery, woodworking, birdhouses, pet items, and clothing just to name a few. Enjoy the fresh produce, original artwork, hand made crafts, live music, and all that the Austin Open Air Market has prepared for you and your entire family. [AUSTIN] Commitment Day 5k

Commitment Day is a national movement committed to getting people moving beginning the first of the year. The 5k is not promoted as a race but as a movement instead, encouraging everyone to come out New Year’s day to join a community ready to move. The course runs down scenic streets in Austin, starting and beginning at the Palmer’s Events Center.

[AUSTIN] SFC Citizen Gardener Class
- Saturday, Jan 12th, 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.
- $30 for 3 classes
-Austin Baha’i Center, 2215 E.M. Franklin Avenue
This class will teach you how to turn your bare ground or Bermuda Grass lawn into raised and in-ground garden beds that are small enough to manage, but big enough to provide real food. This hands-on course covers Central Texas specific topics and addresses the challenges and benefits to growing in our climate. Learn about composting, rainwater harvesting, mulching components, bio-intensive gardening, bed-building and more in a series of 3 classes. After completing the classes students complete 10 hours of volunteer work in any one of our partner gardens in order to gain the designation as Citizen Gardener. Course Fee is $30 for two hands-on classes and one evening discussion.

[SAN ANTONIO] Ghost of Christmas Past Tour

Bring the whole family to experience Sister Grimm’s Special Dinner and Ghost Tour inside the beautiful Menger Hotel. Feast upon a three course meal centered on the delights of the season as you dine at your beautifully lit holiday table and listen to carolers and musicians. After dinner, historically dressed guides will take you through centuries past and recount the tales of San Antonio’s most haunted sites.
