Dallas / Fort Worth Team
Grace Adams
Keeper of the Peas
Grace started at Greenling back in ’06 lending an extra pair of hands where we needed them, and eventually found her niche in Customer Service. Then she went and had a little wee sprout that took all of her time and attention away from us, and we were sad. But just like all sprouts, this one grew and is now giving his preschool teachers a run for their money. And lucky for us, because we wanted our Peas Keeper back! See Grace's intro video here.
Mason Arnold
Cookie Monster
Mason Arnold has been a Sustainability pioneer and serial entrepreneur since graduating from The University of Texas at Austin in 2001 with a degree in Chemical Engineering. Greenling's customers aren't the only ones who have noticed Mason's passion for Sustainability. Mason and Greenling have been recognized in over 20 awards between them. He also drafted legislation (that passed) creating an Organic Advisory Board to the Texas Department of Agriculture to promote more Organic growing practices. Mason helped create Slow Money Texas, bring the Slow Money movement to farmers and producers all over Texas. He also helped for STIC, an investment club focused on local farms and local food. Mason has served on multiple community organization boards, including Sustainable Food Center.
Mason pretty much works all the time, because he loves what he does. Mason's not hard to spot when he's out and about primarily because he drives around in a Prius with a 6' banana on top of it. See more of him here - Facebook Profile
Any words of wisdom or advice that you have picked up along the way?: "The more I see, the less I know" Also "Complexity is a symptom of confusion, not a cause"
Kyle Brooks
PB&K
Kyle is our resident musician. As frontman of Kyle Brooks Rhythm & The Beards, he packs all day and rocks hard all night! Kyle eats and loves all food, but is particularly partial to pasta, peanut butter & chocolate, and spinach (but not all at the same time.) He lives with his pup Sam, and wishes he could be more like The Man in Black from The Princess Bride.
Sean Casey
Professor Plum
Sean may have the widest and most comprehensive body of knowledge of anything (office supplies, firearms, military history, you name it). Sean came to us originally from the fabled New Jerseys, dwelling deep in the Northeast with his wife Lisa and his (wondrous) cat, Loki. We're glad he made it to Texas though, we don't know what we'd do without him solving problems as they arise in the warehouse and tackling the super daunting task of auditing in the wicked cold. Once upon a time Sean was working only for a paycheck, now he's found a home with a mission he can dedicate himself to accomplishing; good food.
Orly Cohen
Challahpeno Hero
When it comes to to buying fresh, local produce no one is more in the know than our Challahpeno Hero, Orly. She spends her hours tirelessly searching down veggies, fruits, meats, cheeses (everything really) to make sure our boxes go out with only the best in local and organic products. This lady believes in the local food movement and she wants to make sure farm fresh foods make it to your door! Orly is also the proud, full time mother of the yellow lab, Curry, so we're all lucky she found so much time to devote to Greenling.
Thomas Corley
Dairy Vangerous
Thomas is an impossibly bright ray of cheer at 5 a.m. pretty much every morning. His positive attitude is thankfully contagious, and tends to be more refreshing than coffee. While he has a red foot tortoise named "The Dude" who revels in Greenling product loss (and The Dude's in great shape with all that organic and local goodness), Thomas himself sticks to a diet of beer and BBQ. In fact, he caters all of our Greenling events. As our Auditor, he double-checks your order with the utmost care!
Mike Crissey
The Greens Goblin
He's a cyclist! A broccoli lover! Able to wordsmith his way out of any problem! He's... The Greens Goblin! Hailing from New Jersey by way of Austin, Mike is our Admin at Greenling DFW. Mike is passionate about Greenling's mission to cut down on cars on the road. In fact, if he could, he would hand-deliver Greenling bins on his bicycle! Mike's dream job is to be the sabermatrician of the Pittsburgh Pirates, and he hates English Muffins.
Russell Cullen
Chairman of the Cutting Board
Rus originates from New Jersey, I think exit 152. He lives on the North side, has a dog named Beatrik, and loves Broccoli Rabe. He won't tell you this, but we have word that he likes to watch 'The Real Housewives' and 'The View.' Not that there's anything wrong with that...just sayin. He wins the 'most tattoos' award at Greenling if we ever give that one out. Rus is no idiot...and don't you dare call him that! Devon and Rus like to battle wits and they occasionally hurt each other's feelings. They always hug it out. Watch Rus' intro video to see him in action!
Bill Doughty
Code Slaw
If Bill could be any vegetable or fruit he would be garlic because, "Garlic is potent. It develops in dark isolation, but it can be the life of the party when it gets together with other veggies." Maybe Bill should be in marketing, because this is the most eloquent and insightful answer. Alas, Bill cannot be in marketing because he keeps our green machine running, tending to the website and all the other techie things that make Greenling easy for customers and employees alike.
David Giesberg
Produce Manager
Meet one of the wizards behind Greenling's website curtain- David! He helps make our website better, and keeps our computer networks running smoothly, too. He can also whip up a mean cheesecake. David's favorite thing about working at Greenling is being around technology and food at the same time. We think that leads to a lot of crumbs in your keyboard, but since David's the guy who would fix that around here anyway, it's probably okay.
LaMar Graham
Arctic Char
LaMar used to live in Alaska. That's really, really cool. He's brought us homemade smoked salmon more than once, and knows all about the delicacies of the North. He's our resident outdoorsman, and has one of the sunniest natures we've ever encountered. He lives in Allen with his wife, Gena and their son, Darien. LaMar is a skilled builder and puts together quite a few of the Allen Community Theatre's sets (so see a show and check out his handiwork!). He's always in great spirits, and so pleasant that it's a shame we can't keep him in the office more. If you see LaMar out on the road delivering your deliciousness, say hello from us back home!
Devon Haire
Sage Advisor
Devon is our Sage Advisor and resident know-it-all, in a good way. She started as a ray of sunshine in our Customer Service department, moved to the warehouse and is now in charge of all kinds of special projects. She oversees operations, helps out with marketing & events, and is our one-woman HR department. She’s our go-to gal when we need a creative solution. She’s originally from Austin (Westlake High) and can be seen doing everything from concerts to kickball to lounging at Barton Springs.
Michael Houts
Father Thyme
Mike's favorite vegetable is corn, which makes sense because he hails from the fair state of Iowa. Mike is one of our trusty delivery men, bringing fresh Greenling goodness to your door! He's a friendly guy, and is definitely the person to talk to if you have questions about organic gardening! Mike goes nuts for trains and trolleycars, and secretly loves video games.
Kathryn Hutchison
Sproutreach
Kathryn fell in love with Greenling as a Local Box customer in 2010, and she hasn't missed a delivery since. These days you can find her talking up local food at Greenling's Texas offices, where she's earned a reputation for slinging the cheesiest food puns in the business. Got an event you think we should be a part of or a cause we should support? She’s your gal – head on over to the Donation page.
Willie Lathers
Gumbo
Willie provides the soundtrack of our lives. His voice rings true throughout the warehouse, and every single day he conquers an impossible mountain of returned bins in order to keep our operation running smoothly. Willie is one of the most politically informed and involved people on staff, and he has keeps us abreast of all the goings-on during election seasons. Willie hails from New Orleans, hence the moniker "Gumbo," and has a wife and two sons. Willie is a number whiz and dazzles us every morning with some quick math. His role is essential at Greenling, and the fact that Willie is always here, smiling and singing, makes the day better for all of us.
Aspen Lewis
Partner in Lime
Aspen is a native Austinite and came to us after many moons in customer service & marketing in the natural foods domain. She oversees all things marketing – from running our social media accounts; managing community partnerships, donations & sponsorships; event planning; blog writing and all kinds of other things that tell the Greenling story. She loves working for Greenling because she can feel good about the values and quality standards of the company she is helping spread the word about. When she’s not here, she’s out seeing live music, hanging out with her 100 lb. dog and cooking.
Enrique Madrazo
Bell Prepper
Enrique is the head of the Prep Kitchen Ninjas at Greenling DFW. If you hang around the Prep Kitchen, you might hear a someone quietly singing along to music on his iPod- that's Enrique! Enrique has two kids, Moises and baby Paulo, with his wife Karina. A true romantic, he enjoys sweets, cooking, poetry, reading, and time with his kiddos. Oh, and Enrique makes great margaritas.
Jonathan Mesches
String Bean
Jonathan is a former Formula 1 driver, who after a horrific accident with a Pilgrim's Pride sponsored race car, gave up factory farmed meat as well as driving over the speed limit. He now models his life after his hero, Teddy Roosevelt, who in his lost autobiography once waxed on about his desire to deliver local produce to his neighbors, if only time had allowed. Jonathan stays true to his Atlanta roots, getting his groove on with beans and collard greens when in season.
Ellen Nelson
Have you spoken with someone from Greenling who wears glitter nail polish and was gushing about local and organic food? That's Ellen! She's on our event staff, spreading the good news about Greenling whenever possible! She's been in Allen for a while, and enjoys listening to live music and hanging out with friends whenever possible. Ellen's favorite foods are cheese and smoked salmon. If she's sad, you can find her watching When Harry Met Sally and eating marshmallows.
Sarah Painter
The Cherry Godmother
Greenling’s Cherry Godmother does more than just wave her wand to make sure every delivery is a great delivery. Sarah Painter has been providing fairy dust for Greenling’s Customer Service for almost 2 and half years and is never seen not smiling. Her chuckle is as powerful as her magic wishes and she’s always fast to help any customer (or employee!)
The Cherry Godmother hails from Virginia, but started her own fairytale here in Austin in 2011. Trail hiking in enchanted forests is her favorite outdoor activity, but when she’s really feeling like an adventure she’ll drink a watermelon agua fresca and do some serious pondering. Her magic extends further than our customer service desk, specifically in the kitchen where she can whip up baked goods quicker than dressing Cinderella. Lucky for us, our fairy tale doesn’t end at midnight, Sarah’s dedicated to Greenling’s mission of bringing local and sustainable food to all!
Manny Santiago
Smoothie Operator
Manny is - without a doubt - the coolest guy we know. It helps that he's also incredibly handsome and charming, but Manny is pretty much the guy we don't know what we'd do without. Manny's been instrumental since he started with us, and his calm, and collected demeanor keeps the team together at the most stressful of receiving days. Manny is the guru of all things cooler and pantry, and basically the go-to guy for whatever needs to be taken care of in our warehouse.
Debbie Schneider
Celery Stalker
Debbie is our very own professionally trained prep kitchen ninja, and we're so happy to have her in our kitchen. You can enjoy the fruits of her labor in your own kitchen with our super awesome recipe kits! Debbie is from Northlake, Illinois and she is seasoned to all climates. She's a recent graduate from culinary school, and her interests outside of work don't fall too far from the tree either. Debbie loves good food, good wine, and good company.
Rebecca Shoemaker
Mrs. Sproutfire
Fueled by broccoli, her husband's cooking, and coffee ice cream, Mrs. Sproutfire keeps everyone in order. She handles the Greenling DFW team, plus her husband, 5 kids, 2 dogs and 2 cats! Rebecca loves the challenging business aspects of Greenling, but it's our mission that really keeps her going. Bruised but beautiful produce always has a home with Mrs. Sproutfire! On Saturdays, you can find her in the garden, hanging with her kids, watching baseball, or maybe sneaking in an afternoon nap.
Margo Sivin
Yolkal Marketer
Margo is the Yolkal Marketer for Greenling DFW, and relishes in sharing the Greenling gospel with the public! She loves supporting local businesses and local food systems. The best part of her job is playing with the beautiful veggies in the Local Box. Margo loves taking work home with her (in the form of delicious local food) and thinks everything is better topped with a fried egg. Her other favorite things are coffee, pugs, and cheese.
Kelly Small
Kelly tears up the Prep Kitchen in DFW, chopping, peeling, and prepping to make your meals great! Originally hailing from Michigan, Kelly is currently in culinary school! Her favorite veggie is cucumber and she enjoys chips when she's feeling snacky, but she hates all condiments (except for ketchup.) When Kelly isn't at Greenling, she enjoys spending time with her family, looking for new and exciting things to munch on in DFW.
Obadiah Stake
The Producer
Our beloved Obadiah came to Greenling straight out of high school, and is teeming with teenage potential. Obie is our very own back to the lander, with a family plot and an impressive array of equipment (and brothers - he's one of four). When he's not packing your Local Boxes, Obadiah likes music, shooting guns, and his dog, Teddy. He's got an exceptional memory for all things vegetable, takes his coffee black, can reload with both hands tied behind his back, and holds his own with all the salty old men in the cooler. Obie's our favorite.
Delivery Staff
Big Boy
Junior VP of Deliveries
I'm a Junior Vice President of Deliveries. It even says so on my business card!
Lt. Dan
VP of Logistics
I maximize the efficiency of our logistics program.
Otto
Delivery Specialist
I'm new here! I'm ready to take on the world and change the food system one stop at a time!
Shorty
Senior VP of Delivery Services
I'm Shorty, the first Dodge Sprinter ('06) that Greenling acquired to help with deliveries. They fell in love with me, obviously, and have only bought Sprinters after me.
Tall Boy
President & C.D.O. (Chief Delivery Officer)
I don't know how to say this, but I'm kind of a big deal. I have many leather-bound books and my apartment smells of rich mahogany. I run the show at Greenling and bring fresh, organic goodness to people all over Texas.
The Penguin
Regional Wholesale Director
Hi! I'm the Penguin. I'm a Mitsubishi Fuso. My name came from my penguin tattoo on my body and the fact that I get really cold. I used to work with Patricia and Jim over at Sweetish Hill Bakery. They didn't really need someone as big and tough as me so they sold me to Greenling to buy a smaller cargo van.
Krispy Kreme
Junior VP of Deliveries
Mr. Kreme joined Greenling after watching "Food Inc." one night on public television. Since then, he's been on an all-local and organic food bender, and that's okay with us. As you might have guessed, he used to work at Krispy Kreme.
