Ryan Adams

Admiral of the Fleet

Sometimes people don't complete their questionnaire for their online bio and we crafty content writers get to make up our own: Ryan was raised by wolves. One night while hunting, Ryan began to wonder if there was more to life than eating small animals and avoiding traps. Plus the wolves would always make him climb trees to get prey, he often felt used and like it just wasn't how nature intended. So he started researching mother nature, saw what was going on and thought he could help.

That's when Ryan found us. Well, actually I think Grace brought him around. He started out as a driver. He started taking care of the vehicles too and before you know it, he became Admiral. If you have any questions about your delivery, this friendly gent will help you out. See his intro video here. See more of him here - Facebook Profile

Grace Adams

Keeper of the Peas

Grace started at Greenling back in ’06 lending an extra pair of hands where we needed them, and eventually found her niche in Customer Service. Then she went and had a little wee sprout that took all of her time and attention away from us, and we were sad. But just like all sprouts, this one grew and is now giving his preschool teachers a run for their money. And lucky for us, because we wanted our Peas Keeper back! See Grace's intro video here.

Zachary Dale Alagner

Zalmond Joy

Zalmond Joy's sweet tooth is outdone by his meat tooth. Before coming to Greenling's Prep Kitchen, Zachary was a meat cutter - his words not ours. It's no surprise then that his favorite character is Bill the Butcher and his guilty pleasure is lots and lots of Texas BBQ. We have nothing against meat, but we are sure are glad Zachary traded in his meat cleaver for a chef's knife and his happily chopping up all your veggies in the Prep Kitchen!

Mason Arnold

Cookie Monster

Mason Arnold has been a Sustainability pioneer and serial entrepreneur since graduating from The University of Texas at Austin in 2001 with a degree in Chemical Engineering. Greenling's customers aren't the only ones who have noticed Mason's passion for Sustainability. Mason and Greenling have been recognized in over 20 awards between them. He also drafted legislation (that passed) creating an Organic Advisory Board to the Texas Department of Agriculture to promote more Organic growing practices. Mason helped create Slow Money Texas, bring the Slow Money movement to farmers and producers all over Texas. He also helped for STIC, an investment club focused on local farms and local food. Mason has served on multiple community organization boards, including Sustainable Food Center.

Mason pretty much works all the time, because he loves what he does. Mason's not hard to spot when he's out and about primarily because he drives around in a Prius with a 6' banana on top of it. See more of him here - Facebook Profile

Any words of wisdom or advice that you have picked up along the way?: "The more I see, the less I know" Also "Complexity is a symptom of confusion, not a cause"

Sam Arnold

The Bransporter

Sam is Mason's older, wiser brother. He has been with Greenling since 2006 as an Organic Distribution Scientist (driver). He lives in the Permaculture Community known as Quilombo Paixao, helping manage the community and work in the garden. He's also a certified Permaculture Designer and is excited to soon be a vendor here at Greenling! If possible, Sam wishes he could have anywhere between 3 to 5 clones, so that he could do more awesome things around town.

Sam says he works at Greenling cause he loves it! 'Taking great products to great customers. Spreading the organic love.' When not at Greenling he's an audio engineer, a capoeira instructor with Grupo Capoeira Rua, and an avid disc golfer. His favorite words of wisdom are 'It's just a ride' - Bill Hicks

Jaime Daniel Calleros

El Cumino

This low rider spends his days in the Prep Kitchen, chopping away and fixing up your Grab & Gos. He has a knack for making people smile - we assume this skill comes from his roommate, Ms. Poppins. This also might be why he is so organized and clean in the kitchen. Props to you Ms. Poppins. Before his time at Greenling, Jaime was slinging tacos at a food truck. Now he's happy to be part of the Greenling team, eating healthy and feeling awesome!

Jana Cullen

Portion de Rossi

Greenling has the dream team working in our Prep Kitchen, all kept in line by our own "Portion de Rossi," also known as Jana Cullen. Jana first started working in the Greenling kitchen to help out her then-boyfriend, our "Chairman of the Cutting Board" Russell Cullen. She'd come in on her off times to help out, and it wasn't long before she got her own moniker. Now she and Russel are married, and Jana runs the Central Texas kitchen! Portion de Rossi hails from Houston, and she knows all the words to MMMBop. (She also thinks Taylor is the cutest Hanson brother. Don't ask why.) She loves her dog, Beatnik, and she and husband Russell love cooking all organic, vegan food at home. When asked why she works at Greenling, Jana answers, "the belly rules the mind'. Lucky for us, her belly loves organic and sustainable food, and prepping and portioning it for your meal kits!

Russell Cullen

Chairman of the Cutting Board

Rus originates from New Jersey, I think exit 152. He lives on the North side, has a dog named Beatrik, and loves Broccoli Rabe. He won't tell you this, but we have word that he likes to watch 'The Real Housewives' and 'The View.' Not that there's anything wrong with that...just sayin. He wins the 'most tattoos' award at Greenling if we ever give that one out. Rus is no idiot...and don't you dare call him that! Devon and Rus like to battle wits and they occasionally hurt each other's feelings. They always hug it out. Watch Rus' intro video to see him in action!

Kayla Dolloff

Choy-baca

Kayla might say she's a klutz, but we've seen her with a knife, and she's got some skills. Deep within the Prep Kitchen, Kalya turns out meal kits quicker than you can say cheese (also her favorite vegetable). A contestant of star search as a young girl, it's no surprise that Kayla has dreams to be Mary Poppins. Knife skills + singing skills = Mary Poppins. We hope she sticks around a little longer before taking to the skies with an umbrella.

Derik Dennis Donald

Fruit Ninja

Three first names have only made Greenling's Fruit Ninja more determined to make a name for himself (and Greenling!). Derik started out in the warehouse at Greenling, but now has the title of Manager of Central Texas' Wholesale Department (a one man -three names department), delivering local and organic goods to neighborhood businesses like Juiceland and Fresh Plus.

He definitely has a thing for names that start with D, naming his two dogs Darhama & Diego. It is no surprise then that he also LOVES Dave Matthews Band - seeing them 22 times and counting. When he's not taking care of our wholesale customers, listening to DMB or hanging with his wife and dogs, Derik spends his time fly fishing and enjoying the greener things in life.

Bill Doughty

Code Slaw

If Bill could be any vegetable or fruit he would be garlic because, "Garlic is potent. It develops in dark isolation, but it can be the life of the party when it gets together with other veggies." Maybe Bill should be in marketing, because this is the most eloquent and insightful answer. Alas, Bill cannot be in marketing because he keeps our green machine running, tending to the website and all the other techie things that make Greenling easy for customers and employees alike.

Casey Eads

Licensed to Dill

Casey is the man to visit if you want to talk about Greenling inventory management or big government conspiracy theories, since he's an expert at both. We count on Casey to keep us in the loop on the latest corporate food capers, and homeboy won't stand for any of that GMO nonsense. He also keeps our warehouse clean as a whistle, with every organic and local product in the perfect place.

David Giesberg

Produce Manager

Meet one of the wizards behind Greenling's website curtain- David! He helps make our website better, and keeps our computer networks running smoothly, too. He can also whip up a mean cheesecake. David's favorite thing about working at Greenling is being around technology and food at the same time. We think that leads to a lot of crumbs in your keyboard, but since David's the guy who would fix that around here anyway, it's probably okay.

Devon Haire

Sage Advisor

Devon is our Sage Advisor and resident know-it-all, in a good way. She started as a ray of sunshine in our Customer Service department, moved to the warehouse and is now in charge of all kinds of special projects. She oversees operations, helps out with marketing & events, and is our one-woman HR department. She’s our go-to gal when we need a creative solution. She’s originally from Austin (Westlake High) and can be seen doing everything from concerts to kickball to lounging at Barton Springs.

Candy Hunke

Plants Manager

Candy (yep folks, that's her real name) has this amazing ability to pretty much do everything. That's a mom for you, I guess. She started in the packing room and is now managing our Central Texas office. She also helps us grow to new cities and she'll laugh at all your jokes. What's not to like? Check out her intro video for more sweetness.

Kathryn Hutchison

Sproutreach

Kathryn fell in love with Greenling as a Local Box customer in 2010, and she hasn't missed a delivery since. These days you can find her talking up local food at Greenling's Texas offices, where she's earned a reputation for slinging the cheesiest food puns in the business. Got an event you think we should be a part of or a cause we should support? She’s your gal – head on over to the Donation page.

Joel Johnson

Curry Courier

Joel is from Sherman, TX, likes sweet potatoes, and is a non-judgemental Vegan! He lives in San Marcos and likes it's small-town feel and being close to Austin. He delivers bundles of joy for Greenling because he believes in our mission and says he loves our work culture. When not at Greenling Joel likes to play music (he was actually a band teacher before joining us) and has been getting back into tennis.

Aspen Lewis

Partner in Lime

Aspen is a native Austinite and came to us after many moons in customer service & marketing in the natural foods domain. She oversees all things marketing – from running our social media accounts; managing community partnerships, donations & sponsorships; event planning; blog writing and all kinds of other things that tell the Greenling story. She loves working for Greenling because she can feel good about the values and quality standards of the company she is helping spread the word about. When she’s not here, she’s out seeing live music, hanging out with her 100 lb. dog and cooking.

Jason Martin

Cashew City Rocker

You can find this rocker in the Greenling Prep Kitchen where he has been excelling at washing, chopping, slicing, and whatever else needs to be done so that your cooking process can be smooth as organic cashew butter. Before slicing and dicing, Jason spent most of his time welding trees out of topo chico bottles or watching all three original Star Wars movies back to back. May the fork be with you Jason.

Daniel Mouton

Dan Dan The Muffin Man

Dan spends his time at Greenling making sure all those green bins are squeaky clean. Though things might get interesting if he ever steps into a driver postion considering his affinity for dancing behind the wheel. Dan's real passion though is muffins, followed by his love for carrots. Together these make for some serious carrot cake muffins. Growing up in Austin has also given Dan a deep respect for the environment and the outdoors leading to his favorite activity when he's not working, camping!

Sarah Painter

The Cherry Godmother

Greenling’s Cherry Godmother does more than just wave her wand to make sure every delivery is a great delivery. Sarah Painter has been providing fairy dust for Greenling’s Customer Service for almost 2 and half years and is never seen not smiling. Her chuckle is as powerful as her magic wishes and she’s always fast to help any customer (or employee!)

The Cherry Godmother hails from Virginia, but started her own fairytale here in Austin in 2011. Trail hiking in enchanted forests is her favorite outdoor activity, but when she’s really feeling like an adventure she’ll drink a watermelon agua fresca and do some serious pondering. Her magic extends further than our customer service desk, specifically in the kitchen where she can whip up baked goods quicker than dressing Cinderella. Lucky for us, our fairy tale doesn’t end at midnight, Sarah’s dedicated to Greenling’s mission of bringing local and sustainable food to all!

Miles Payton

A newbie to Austin and to the Greenling prep kitchen Ghettomelon knows the streets. Or rather the fields. Before he joined Greenling as a Grab & Go specialist, Miles worked on a small vegetable farm in California. Despite his love for kale and vegetables in general, this kid still has a mighty massive sweet tooth.

Ryan Rice

The Rice Capades

Ryan is a member of our all star bin prep team, making sure every order comes in a super clean Greenling bin. This Rice Capade also helps out with pre-packing, and keeping spirits high with his jokes. He loves working at Greenling to help provide, healthy organic food to the community. He's got a strong love for pizza and can show up anybody at IMDB Trivia. Before Greenling Ryan was a teacher of many trades, teaching Billy Crystal how to ride a horse and Denzel Washington how to do karate.

Mike James Riches

Chive Turkey

This Turkey is a knife wielding ninja. Mike spends his days at Greenling in the Prep Kitchen, assisting in washing, chopping, and portioning all the goodness in Greenling's meal kits. Originally from New Jersey, Mike has made Austin his home since 2011. When he's not behind the cutting board, he's doing magic tricks or out chasing his dogs through the woods.

James Sargent

Sgt. Pepper

James comes over from Texas Campaign for the Environment where he was fighting for recycling programs on a grass-roots level and lobbying the legislature.Have you ever tried that? Wow, it's hard. So, we're lucky to have him. He's passionate about food and can't wait to take down Monsanto with Greenling! He's originally from Boston and you may recognize him if you've ever eaten at Opal Divine's. Hear more from James at his intro video.

Tim Shaikewitz

Shrinkewitz

Tim is one of the most senior team-members here and has worn a lot of hats. He's settled into the driver hat and is making customers blush all over town. Apparently there are a few crushes out there on this bringer of organic goodness. He's originally from New Orleans (came over way before the Katrina), likes Broccoli & his cat. He loves Cuban food and likes to collect porcelain dolls (not really, but some book said he's probably into that).

Steve Shirey

Bringer of Good Thyme

Steve was working at a farm delivering organic goodness to Greenling when we met him. As soon as we had a delivery opening, he came over to help us. He's the resident Technical Director at the Austin Drum Club, Austin's only underground Shakespeare Repertory Company. Honestly, I have no idea what that means. I guess I need a little more culture in my life. He's got a daughter he loves to hang out with and is a cat person, too. You know, I think all of our drivers have cats. Any ideas on why? He's originally from Florida and Nacogdoches. A little beach...a little country....and....you get Steve. Be sure to say hi when he brings your veggies.

Derek Smith

Hauliu Peños

More juicy details on people who haven't turned in bios. This person was raised in Russia and could see Sarah Palin from their house. They moved to America and gained 20 lbs from eating too many pork rhinds. Did I mention they are related to Obama's dog's sister's owner's third cousin? Yeah, he's pretty much famous. He also has a Christmas tree/Easter egg thing that he prominently displays on his living room coffee table. No one has had the gumption to ask....

Mario Sifuentez

Mario & Linguini

Mario is an Austinite by birth and has the same easy going personality. He aspires to be like the Flash and does a pretty good job, knocking out bin prep and receiving all in one day. Mario helps take in the all the local and organic goods brought to us by our lovely vendors and farmer heroes. He's a tried and true omnivore, eating everything delicious, because hey, he's not picky! Ice cream perks him up and tomatoes keep up his energy - though we are sure he also has a thing for Princess Peach. When he's not spending his time in the Greenling warehouse he is basking in the sunshine of his beautiful city.

Leigh Von Runnen

The Curd Nerd

This cheese queen is Greenling’s Local Buyer for Central Texas, meaning she is responsible for making sure our warehouse is full of fraiche, delicious produce and groceries! The Curd Nerd hails from a little whey outside of D.C. where she got a start slinging cheese. She loves the Beatles, especially the song Let It Brie, and her favorite book is Rind and Punishment. We might Havarti told you told you about her passion for cheese, but she also has soft spot for good whiskeys and thunderstorms. Leigh moved to Austin only three months ago to start working at Greenling, hoping to build a cheddar food system. She loves working as the Buyer because she gets to meet legen-dairy local farmers and artisanal producers and share their great product with all of ewe! We apologize if anyone found this a little too cheesy, but come on, how could we not!

Delivery Staff

Benny

CMO (Chief Marketing Officer)

I love my job! I just get to drive around and tell people about the great service that is Greenling. I make people smile wherever I go with my big banana.

Big Boy

Junior VP of Deliveries

I'm a Junior Vice President of Deliveries. It even says so on my business card!

Lt. Dan

VP of Logistics

I maximize the efficiency of our logistics program.

Otto

Delivery Specialist

I'm new here! I'm ready to take on the world and change the food system one stop at a time!

Shorty

Senior VP of Delivery Services

I'm Shorty, the first Dodge Sprinter ('06) that Greenling acquired to help with deliveries. They fell in love with me, obviously, and have only bought Sprinters after me.

Tall Boy

President & C.D.O. (Chief Delivery Officer)

I don't know how to say this, but I'm kind of a big deal. I have many leather-bound books and my apartment smells of rich mahogany. I run the show at Greenling and bring fresh, organic goodness to people all over Texas.

The Penguin

Regional Wholesale Director

Hi! I'm the Penguin. I'm a Mitsubishi Fuso. My name came from my penguin tattoo on my body and the fact that I get really cold. I used to work with Patricia and Jim over at Sweetish Hill Bakery. They didn't really need someone as big and tough as me so they sold me to Greenling to buy a smaller cargo van.

Krispy Kreme

Junior VP of Deliveries

Mr. Kreme joined Greenling after watching "Food Inc." one night on public television. Since then, he's been on an all-local and organic food bender, and that's okay with us. As you might have guessed, he used to work at Krispy Kreme.
