Product Names May Change, but Local Goodness Stays the Same
Heads up- as we prep our website to serve 2 regions, we'll be making minor changes to the way some of the products are named.
All local meats will undergo a name change- the farm they hail from will no longer be in the title, but will remain in the product description.
We have to do this for boring technical reasons - but don't worry, you'll still be getting the same great local meat you know and love! Please 'lettuce' know if you have any questions.

Root for Team Organic at your Football Watching Party!
There's a certain sporting event in a few weeks that tends to be centered around trans-fat loaded fried foods more than fresh, local veggies. Never fear, we've got you covered with stress and guilt-free appetizers you can just order and serve. Each of our appetizer meal kits serves 8-10 nibbling adults.
Fresh Vegetable Tray Appetizer: a 12" platter chock full of raw, beautiful organic veggies, pre-washed and trimmed for instant nibbling. Note - this tray may not last to the big game if your delivery day is Tuesday or Wednesday. Perhaps try one of the others
Fiesta Nachos Appetizer: Classic Tex Mex nachos with a local twist. Crispy corn tortilla chips, ready to be smothered in fully prepared refried beans, shredded cheddar cheese, jalapeño peppers, salsa, sour cream and fresh cilantro.
Rosemary White Bean Dip Appetizer: Forget that gooey canned bean dip. This is an awesome pre-made alternative made with all-organic ingredients- healthful white beans enhanced with rosemary for a delicious party dip. Comes with organic multi-grain chips for serving.

The Root of That Sniffle

Did you know that 90% of seasonal allergy sufferers have underlying food allergies? Not the epi-pen trip to the hospital kind, but an inflammatory allergy usually caused by over-exposure or leaky gut. Remove foods you're allergic to and your seasonal allergies dramatically reduce or go away completely.
So, how do you discover your food allergies? The Love Cleanse by Kim Love (it's now called LoveLife Method)! I do this cleanse annually and the first time I did it I discovered an allergy to dairy. I removed dairy from my diet (sad, indeed) and it changed my life. No more seasonal allergies, no struggles with weight, improved energy. Her program works. You can often reintroduce the foods after a period of exclusion.
It's a food-based, guided cleanse so you don't have to starve and you actually don't usually feel hungry if you follow the program. Greenling has been partnering with Kim for years and last year launched our Love Cleanse recipe kits that supplement her program and make all your meals easy! They've been a smashing success. So go sign up for her program and she'll send you a link to the recipe kit basket to go along with the program. I promise you'll feel significantly better than you do now (even if you feel great). Guaranteed.
I do not believe allergies are simply a way of life in Texas. They're a symptom of an underlying issue in the body. Until you find and treat the issue, nasal sprays and pills for the symptoms are just an expensive way to put off dealing with it. And just in case you're getting confused - I'm not a doctor and this is not medical advice. Just my opinion, that's all.

This Week's Box Contents & Local Items
There's a cornucopia of fruits and veggies growing in Central Texas right now! All the moderate weather and low winds we're having make farmers very happy, because their crops are flourishing in the fields. Citrus from G&S is still going strong, and we're getting gorgeous root vegetables from Green Gate Farms and Gundermann Acres. Winter greens are also available from several of our local farmers.
We're expecting several more weeks of strong production, as long as we avoid freezing overnight temperatures in the area. Keep your eyes peeled for some exciting variety in future Local Boxes, thanks to all this great weather!

Recipe Corner
Balsamic Glazed Chickpeas & Mustard Greens
Ingredients

- 10 ounces mustard greens
- 1/2 large red onion, thinly sliced
- 4-6 tablespoons vegetable broth, divided
- 4 cloves garlic, chopped
- 1 pinch red pepper flakes
- 1/2 teaspoon salt (optional)
- 2 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
- 1/2 teaspoon soy sauce
- 1/4 teaspoon agave nectar or sugar
- 1 cup cooked chickpeas, rinsed and drained
Instructions:
Remove any large stems from the greens and discard. Tear the leaves into bite-sized pieces.
In a deep pot or wok, sauté the onion in a tablespoon or two of vegetable broth until mostly faded to pink, about 4 minutes. Add the chopped garlic and red pepper and another tablespoon of broth and cook, stirring, for another minute. Add the mustard greens, 2 tablespoons of broth, and cook, stirring, until greens are wilted but still bright green, about 3-5 minutes. Stir in the salt, if using. Remove greens and onions from pan with a slotted spoon and place in a serving dish, leaving any liquid in pan.
Add the balsamic vinegar, soy sauce, and agave or sugar to the liquid in the pan (if there is no liquid, add 2 tablespoons of broth). Add the chickpeas and cook, stirring, over medium heat until the liquid is reduced by about half. Spoon the chickpeas over the greens and drizzle the sauce over all. Serve warm, with additional balsamic vinegar at the table.
